Job summary

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) seeks an educator to specialise in autism, working with students to tailor learning goals and well-being outcomes. You will collaborate with school psychologists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists to deliver high-quality learning programs that meet individual needs and promote student success.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or with intellectual disability (desirable).
  • Experience implementing Individual Plans.
  • Knowledge of transitioning students into mainstream settings.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • First Aid Certificate (desirable).
  • Depending on school location it may be essential to have a current driver’s licence (per state legislation).
  • A Light Rigid (LR) driver’s licence (desirable).
  • Capacity to travel across all sites in the area.
  • NSW Working with Children Check required.
  • International police check may be required.

Job Description

You will help create a learning environment that tailors to the individual needs of students through evidence informed best practice in autism. A challenging, rewarding and varied role making a difference in the lives of children on the autism spectrum and their families. Develop your knowledge of autism and specialist education approaches. You will work closely in a team with other professionals such as our school psychologist, speech therapists and occupational therapists to develop and deliver quality learning programs.

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or other intellectual disability (desirable)
  • Experience implementing Individual Plans
  • Knowledge of transitioning students into mainstream settings
  • Certificate III in Education Support or other relevant tertiary qualification (desirable)
  • Effective communication skills
  • First Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • Depending on the school's location/requirements it may be essential to have a current driver's licence (per relevant state legislation)
  • A Light Rigid (LR) driver's licence (desirable)
  • Capacity to travel across all sites in the area
  • NSW Working with Children Check required
  • You may be required to provide an international police check.
