Job summary

Life Without Barriers Education seeks a dedicated Teacher to deliver inclusive, flexible learning for disengaged youth across campuses in New South Wales. You will collaborate with Youth Workers and families to support successful transitions and well-being, using trauma-informed practices and evidence-based strategies to foster student engagement and achievement.

Permanent full-time role commencing January 2027, with campuses planned in Bathurst and Coffs Harbour, under the Life Without Barriers

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Education and teacher accreditation as required by NSW standards.
• Experience designing and delivering flexible learning options for disengaged learners.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for neurodivergent students and diverse needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging learning programs for up to 15–20 students per campus.
• Create inclusive, trauma-informed environments that support wellbeing and engagement.
• Collaborate with Youth Workers and families to support transitions and participation.
• Maintain records, ensure compliance, and contribute to professional development.

Life Without Barriers Education is a wholly owned subsidiary of Life Without Barriers and is comprised of a network of schools supporting young people to re-engage in education by providing high school aged students with inclusive and flexible learning options.

Role: Teacher - Life Without Barriers Education

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time

Campus Staffing: 2 Teachers, 1 Youth Worker

Commencement Date: January 2027

In this role, you will deliver engaging, flexible learning for young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.

Working alongside Youth Workers, you'll create an inclusive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed environment where students can re-engage and thrive. Each campus supports up to 15-20 students with a team of 1-2 Teachers and Youth Workers, enabling personalised support.

You'll work with families, carers, and community agencies to advocate for students, support successful transitions, and maintain a safe, supportive, and compliant learning environment.

Support for this role is provided by the NSW School Principal, Administration Officer, and the National Life Without Barriers Education team

Note: The proposed new Life Without Barriers Education campuses (Bathurst, Coffs Harbour) in New South Wales are currently pending registration with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA). Any appointment arising from this recruitment process is conditional upon the granting required regulatory approvals.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging learning programs, including integrated, applied, and accredited learning, literacy and numeracy support, and individual learning plans.
• Create an inclusive, culturally responsive environment that supports wellbeing, engagement, and strong community connections.
• Apply trauma-informed and therapeutic practices to manage behaviours and promote positive outcomes for young people.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with young people and their families, supporting participation, life skills, and cultural identity.
• Work collaboratively with teams and external agencies to provide coordinated support and smooth transitions.
• Maintain accurate records, meet compliance requirements, and actively contribute to professional development and a safe, supportive learning environment.

Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Education
• Active NESA accreditation or ability to obtain (per 2024 NSW Teacher Accreditation Manual).
• Proven expertise in designing and delivering a variety of flexible learning options tailored to the diverse needs, characteristics, and learning styles of young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.
• Skilled in differentiating instruction and adapting approaches to support neurodivergent learners as needed.
• High level communication skills including the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with young people, families and internal and external stakeholders
• Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of TAS curriculum requirements
• Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certification or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
• Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence and ability to drive 12 seat vehicles.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children check.
