Hawksworth Consulting is seeking a Tax Manager in Sydney to join the Pacific Controllership Tax Reporting team. You will handle tax reporting, compliance and advisory work across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea, reporting to the Senior Manager of Tax Reporting and Compliance.

The role is senior, requiring independence, and involves guiding junior staff on accounting and reporting matters within a matrixed, international environment.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of relevant tax experience, in multinational, large corporate or professional services settings.
  • Experience across direct tax, international tax, indirect tax and transfer pricing.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand tax legislation, compliance and reporting.

Job description

This is an opportunity for a Tax Manager to join a well-established professional services organisation and work as part of its Pacific Controllership Tax Reporting team in Sydney

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Tax Reporting and Compliance, you will be responsible for a broad range of tax reporting, compliance and advisory activities across the Pacific region, including Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.

This is a senior individual contributor role suited to someone who is comfortable working independently and managing complex tax matters with minimal supervision. You will work closely with local and international stakeholders and provide guidance to less experienced team members on complex accounting, tax and reporting matters.

You will ideally have:

  • 5–10 years of relevant tax experience, gained within a multinational organisation, large corporate environment, professional services firm, or a combination of in-house and public practice roles.
  • Experience across direct tax, international tax, indirect tax and transfer pricing.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand tax legislation, compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience working on tax matters across the Pacific region.
  • Experience managing complex tax compliance processes and working with external advisors and tax authorities.
  • Confidence working across borders and within a matrixed, international environment.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related discipline.
  • CA, CPA or CTA qualifications would be highly regarded.
  • Experience with Oracle and PwC Tax Automate, or similar tax/accounting software.
