Job summary

DroneShield, Sydney-based company, is seeking an early-career Tax Analyst to support the Group Tax Manager and Director, Tax in delivering global tax compliance, accounting, governance and advisory activities.

Based in Sydney, the role provides broad exposure across Australian and international corporate tax, GST and VAT, FBT, and transfer pricing, with opportunities to develop broad in-house tax capability.

Qualifications

  • CA,CPA and/or CTA qualified or currently studying towards a relevant professional qualification
  • Approximately 2-4 years’ tax experience in Big 4, mid-tier, boutique or commercial environments
  • Foundational understanding of Australian corporate tax, GST and/or FBT principles
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills, attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Curiosity, initiative and willingness to work across a broad range of taxes and occasional cross-functional projects
  • Ability to work independently on defined tasks while seeking guidance and escalating issues appropriately
  • Experience with Oracle, tax software or data analytics tools is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Tax Compliance: Prepare tax workpapers, reconciliations and schedules for Australian and international filings
  • Assist with BAS/GST, VAT, corporate income tax, FBT, withholding tax and other compliance processes
  • Coordinate information requests and maintain evidence for advisers, auditors and authorities
  • Monitor deadlines and update tax compliance calendar and payment trackers
  • Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting: Prepare account reconciliations and tax accounting workpapers
  • Assist with current and deferred tax calculations, journals and disclosure support
  • Perform general ledger reviews to identify tax issues and anomalies
  • Tax Governance & Risk: Maintain tax risk and controls registers, document tax positions and analyses
  • Assist with audit requests and tax authority information requests
  • Identify risks and process weaknesses and escalate
  • Advisory, Research & Business Support: Undertake tax technical research and draft summaries
  • Assist with analysis of contracts, cross-border transactions and mobility
  • Support transfer pricing and international tax projects
  • Work with Finance, Payroll, Legal and advisers to validate information
  • Technology & Process Improvement: Support automation of tax calculations and monitoring
  • Perform data analysis and testing and exception reporting
  • Improve tax data quality in Oracle and systems
  • Contribute to templates and procedures

About the role

The Tax Analyst supports the Group Tax Manager and Director, Tax in delivering DroneShield’s global tax compliance, tax accounting, governance and advisory activities. Based in Sydney, the role provides broad exposure across Australian and international corporate tax, GST and VAT, FBT and employment taxes, transfer pricing, global mobility, tax governance and tax technology. The role is suited to an early-career tax professional who is technically curious, highly organised and keen to develop broad in-house tax capability within a fast-growing ASX-listed multinational business.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
Tax Compliance
  • Prepare tax workpapers, reconciliations, datapacks and supporting schedules for Australian and international filings
  • Assist with BAS/GST, VAT, corporate income tax, FBT, withholdingtax and other recurring compliance processes
  • Coordinate information requests and maintain supporting evidence for external advisers,auditors and tax authorities
  • Monitor deadlines and update the Group tax compliance calendar and payment trackers
Tax Accounting and Financial Reporting
  • Prepare account reconciliations, permanent and temporary differenceschedules and other tax effect accounting workpapers
  • Assistwith current and deferred tax calculations,journals and statutory tax disclosure support
  • Perform general ledger and transaction reviews toidentify potential tax issues and follow up anomalies
Tax Governance and Risk
  • Maintain tax risk, advice, compliance,controls and training registers
  • Support documentation of tax positions, technical analyses,procedures and reliance on external advice
  • Assist with control testing, evidence retention, audit requests and taxauthority information requests
  • Identify potential risks, missinginformation or process weaknesses and elevate them promptly
Advisory, Research and Business Support
  • Undertake directed tax technical research and prepare clear draft summaries or memoranda
  • Assistwith analysis of contracts, cross-border transactions, employeearrangements and new business initiatives
  • Support transfer pricing calculations, intercompany rechargeprocesses and international tax projects
  • Work with Finance, Payroll, People & Performance, Legal,Commercialand external advisers to obtain andvalidate tax information
Technology and Process Improvement
  • Support automation of tax calculations,reconciliations and compliance monitoring
  • Perform tax data analysis andassist with transaction testing and exception reporting
  • Help improve the quality and consistency of tax data captured in Oracle and supporting systems
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of workpapers, checklists,templates and documented procedures
