Job description

We are seeking an experienced Systems Manager who will be responsible for the administration, management, integrity, security and performance of external facing systems, including ALCAM and ARRM. This is a full-time contract role for a period of 6 months with the potential to be extended or converted to a permanent role. Whilst the preferred location is Brisbane, we may be able to accommodate other locations via remote working options.

About the Company:

The Rail Industry Safety and Standards (RISSB) is the Australian Rail Industry Standards Development Organisation (SDO) and is accredited by Standards Australia. RISSB is primarily responsible for the development, amendment, management and ownership of the Australian Code of Practice (ACOP) as it relates to the Rail Industry. The ACOP incorporates codes, standards, rules and guidelines. RISSB is also responsible for other documents, systems and processes necessary and desirable to promote railway industry safety, harmonisation, interoperability and productivity in Australia. RISSB manages external facing systems such as the Australian Level Crossing Assessment Model (ALCAM) (on behalf of the National ALCAM Committee) and the Australian Rail Risk Model (ARRM).

RISSB's objectives are detailed in its Constitution. It is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. It is owned by its funding members and has been in operation since 2004. About the Role:

You will be required to:

  • Drive the management and maintenance of the allocated systems as it relates to the Rail Industry
  • Ensure that maintenance tasks and support requests are responded to in a timely manner
  • Allocate and oversee the work undertaken by developers and contractors
  • Ensure system updates are appropriately tested before implementation
  • Manage budgets in relation to system updates and implementation
  • Document and maintain user guidance notes for the systems
  • Promote the systems with user groups and external stakeholders
  • Investigate and propose system improvement activities
  • Ensure RISSB operational (business) continuity and compliance requirements are embedded and implemented on all external facing systems
  • Develop and maintain product enhancement plans per the RISSB Work Plan
  • Manage relationships with key customers and stakeholders to ensure continued engagement
  • Manage external providers and suppliers in accordance with established contracts
  • Chair the Technical Committee associated with the system
  • Provide written updates as relevant to management and committees regarding project spend, system support, and project updates
  • Support the General Manager – Products and Innovation in satisfying any reporting requirements to the CEO and RISSB Board in a timely manner, as well as other duties as required
About You:
  • 3+ years’ experience working with risk systems
  • Experience working with ALCAM system (preferred)
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications applicable to the rail industry (preferred)
  • Extensive project management and contract coordination experience
  • Experience working in the rail industry
  • Able to travel within Australia on occasion
