Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia is offering a Graduate Systems Engineer position as part of a permanent full-time Graduate Program. The program spans 24 months with structured development and professional learning across multiple Australian sites including Adelaide, Brisbane and Williamtown.

Applicants should hold a degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology or expect to graduate before January 2027, and must be an Australian citizen eligible for Defence clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer requirements alongside the development of innovative solutions that ensure the full product lifecycle is optimized.
  • Coordinate with other design and specialty disciplines (e.g. software, hardware, safety, security and support system engineering) to ensure that your team’s products are properly integrated into the solution and delivered in a way that delights the customer.
  • Verify and validate designs and products to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Develop engineering documentation and support configuration management of the system.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team in a conscientious and inclusive way to successfully deliver innovative solutions to the Australian Defence Force.

The Opportunity:

Our program offers graduates a permanent full-time position, providing a solid career foundation from day one. Graduate opportunities are available across all of our sites including Adelaide, Brisbane and Williamtown supporting a range of engineering business units at Boeing Defence Australia.

We shape the future of aerospace and deliver some of the nation's most important programs for the Australian Defence Force including the following:

  • E-7A Wedgetail–The centrepiece of Australia’s national air defence capability, incorporating powerful airborne surveillance, communications and battle management capability.
  • MQ-28 Ghost Bat –Development and integration of mission systems for uncrewed teamingaircraft designed to be a force multiplier in support of advanced multi-mission air combat operations.
  • Sustainment Operations –Maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrades of military aircraft including F/A-18F Super Hornets, CH-47F Chinooks and P-8A Poseidons, as well as training design and delivery.
  • Joint Systems –Design, development and sustainment of defence communications systems and networks.

Eligibility:

Due to the nature of the work you may participate in, you will need to be an Australian citizen with eligibility to obtain a Defence Security clearance.

Our 24-month Graduate Program is designed to equip you with essential skills for a successful transition into full-time work, while also fostering your growth into an experienced professional. Throughout the program, you will engage in professional learning and development, as well as social and collaborative opportunities to expand your Boeing network.

While the Graduate Program has defined learning objectives and a structured framework, your individual journey will be tailored in collaboration with your manager, shaped by business needs and your personal professional development goals. To enhance your exposure and learning, you will remain within one business unit for the entire duration of the program, allowing you to immerse yourself in team dynamics and project work. Over these 24 months, you will not only acquire the technical skills necessary for your role but also develop the interpersonal skills that are vital for a fulfilling career.
