Job summary

Insignia Financial is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer – Network to support and enhance our enterprise network in Canberra. You will engineer, administer, monitor and optimise a complex landscape, ensuring stability, performance and security of critical business services.

Join a hands-on networking role that collaborates with infrastructure and project teams to deliver network initiatives, while maintaining documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in a similar network engineering or operations role.
  • Experience in large, complex networks (WAN/LAN/Wireless).
  • Hands-on with TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF and PBR; security and load balancing.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, administer and maintain network hardware, software and monitoring platforms.
  • Analyse requirements and contribute to design, integration and deployment of network solutions.
  • Monitor performance, capacity and availability; identify improvements.
  • Respond to incidents and perform remediation to support continuity and reliability.
  • Maintain incident records using service management tools and meet SLAs.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation with internal teams.

The opportunity to join our team

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer – Network to join our Client & Technology division and play a key role in supporting and enhancing our enterprise network environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the engineering, administration, monitoring and ongoing optimisation of network infrastructure across a complex and diverse technology landscape. Working closely with infrastructure and project teams, you will contribute to the delivery of network initiatives while ensuring the stability, performance and security of critical business services. Key Responsibilities
  • Implement, administer and maintain network hardware, software and monitoring platforms.
  • Analyse network requirements and contribute to the design, integration and deployment of network solutions.
  • Monitor network performance, capacity and availability, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Respond to network incidents and undertake remediation activities to support business continuity and service reliability.
  • Manage, prioritise and maintain accurate incident records through service management tools, ensuring timely resolution in line with service levels.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation while collaborating with internal teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure services and project outcomes.
What You Will Bring
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with 3–5 years' experience in a similar network engineering or operations support role.
  • Proven experience working within large, complex network environments, including WAN, LAN and Wireless technologies.
  • Hands‑on technical expertise across TCP/IP networking and routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and PBR.
  • Hands‑on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco or Arista BGP EVPN VXLAN data centre solutions.
  • Experience with modern networking technologies including VLAN, VXLAN, VRF, QoS, SD‑WAN, IPSEC and STP, along with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD practices.
  • Experienced in configuring and managing load balancing solutions using Radware Alteon and Citrix NetScaler.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a current Cisco CCNP certification (or equivalent), AWS and GCP cloud networking experience beneficial
