Townsville City Council is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, deliver and support technology solutions that enable better services for the Townsville community. Working across a modern hybrid environment spanning cloud and on-premises technologies, you will help ensure the performance, security and reliability of critical systems while driving continuous improvement.
This is a fixed-term full-time role from August 2026 to July 2027, with a 9-day fortnight (36.25 hours per week), offering a

Salary Range: LGO7 ($113,019 - $119,946 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

As a Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, delivering and supporting technology solutions that enable better services for the Townsville community. Working across a modern hybrid environment spanning cloud and on-premises technologies, you will help ensure the performance, security and reliability of critical systems while driving continuous improvement and innovation. This is an opportunity to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, contribute to strategic technology initiatives, lead technical outcomes and support the delivery of secure, customer-focused digital services across Council.
You are an experienced IT professional who enjoys solving complex challenges and delivering reliable, customer-focused technology solutions. With strong technical expertise across modern infrastructure, cloud technologies and service management, you can think strategically, build effective relationships and communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. You thrive in fast-paced environments, bring a proactive and innovative mindset, and are passionate about driving continuous improvement, business value and high-quality outcomes.
