Job summary

Flying Bark Productions is a renowned independent producer of family-focused animation entertainment. For over 50 years, our 2D and 3D production facility has created award-winning feature films and TV series.

We are seeking a Senior SysAdmin to provide systems administration and support to artists and staff, manage core infrastructure, and ensure secure, efficient workflows across the production pipeline. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities to work on high-profile

Qualifications

• 3–5 Senior SysAdmins in a Medium to Large Enterprise for both Linux & MS Server.
• Experience with ISM, AS/NZS ISO/IEC 2700X, or Trusted Partner Network security standards.
• Experience with DHCP, DNS, Active Directory on Windows Server.
• Public cloud and on-premises virtualization setup and maintenance.
• Minimum 5 yrs Enterprise Storage Systems; 3–5 yrs in Post Production or VFX facility.
• Application support for Autodesk Maya, Foundry Nuke, Render Management (Tractor), Adobe Suite, MediaComposer, Arnold.

Responsibilities

• Provide systems administration and technical support to artists and staff daily.
• Liaise with 3rd-party vendors to resolve issues and request new features.
• Balance production needs within client security constraints (TPN/MPAA).
• Identify workflow, tech, and method issues and communicate with teams.
• Manage core infrastructure: AD, DHCP, DNS, cloud storage, on-prem virtualization.
• Monitor helpdesk tickets and identify patterns to resolve incidents.
• Manage storage servers including ZFS and EditShare.
• Maintain network health and security; optimize data delivery.
• Build new hardware and deploy software as needed.
• Scripting and automation to streamline admin tasks; support pipeline tools.
• Provide after-hours support as required.

Job description

Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. We have a number of exciting productions underway, including a new 2D project with Disney, Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series and Stranger Things animated series, as well as an upcoming feature film, Zac Power.

About the role

• On a daily basis provide systems administration and technical support to artists in their production tasks and staff members as required;
• Liaising with 3rd-party software vendors to resolve technical issues and direct requests to the vendor for development of new functionality as required;
• Balance the needs of production teams whilst working within agreed client security constraints (TPN/MPAA);
• Identify issues with work-flow, technology and development methodologies and communicate effectively any found issues with production, pipeline team, or global technology departments;
• Manage, monitor and maintain core infrastructure comprising of: MS Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, public cloud (object storage, virtual private servers) and on-premises virtualisation;
• Monitor and respond to the ticket support system and proactively identify patterns of incidents to resolve any fundamental issues that arise;
• Management of various storage servers, technologies used including ZFS and Editshare;
• Maintaining health and security of the network and working to provide efficiencies in network configuration to enable optimised data delivery to users;
• Building of new hardware and installation/deployment of software as required;
• Scripting and some software development to automate or simplify administrative processes, assists or troubleshoot issues with existing production pipeline tools;
• Be available to provide support outside of traditional working hours, including nights and weekends as reasonably required.

About you

• Experience provisioning and maintaining access and core switches;
• 3-5 Senior SysAdmin in a Medium to Large Enterprise for both Linux & MS Server;
• Experience working under an established set of security standards e.g. ISM, AS/NZS ISO/IEC 2700X, or Trusted Partner Network;
• Experience with DHCP, DNS, Active Directory on Windows Server;
• Public cloud and on-premises virtualisation setup and maintenance;
• Minimum 5 Yrs Enterprise Storage Systems;
• 3-5 Yrs in Post Production or VFX facility;
• Application support of the following: Autodesk Maya, Foundry Nuke, Render Management such as Pixar Tractor, Adobe Suite, Avid MediaComposer, Arnold;
• Ability to work cohesively as part of the greater technology team ensuring transparency in reporting and communication within that team and the Company as a whole;
• Ability to liaise with production staff, technical and creative crew to gather requirements and rapidly provide solutions that meet the needs of the various productions and the Company;
• Establishment of successful working relationships with key members of production and crew;
• Ability to flag in advance any issues that may impact on the successful delivery of productions and the efficient running of the Company from a system administration and technical support perspective;
• Ability to work autonomously whilst maintaining high levels of communication with supervising and key crew;
• Be adaptable, flexible and responsive to changes;
• Complete tasks within production deadlines.
