Job summary

Credit Union SA is seeking a Systems Administrator on a 2-year fixed-term contract to maintain and secure its IT infrastructure. The role involves administering Active Directory, server environments, and Azure cloud services, with a focus on reliability and security.

You will work with the IT & Security team to ensure stable operations, support disaster recovery, and drive process improvements. Strong Microsoft stack experience and autonomous BAU capability are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in the IT industry with hands-on Microsoft hybrid cloud experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Proven experience with VMware virtualization platforms, end-user computing and endpoints.
• Solid understanding of DNS, directory services and enterprise identity architecture.
• Ability to operate autonomously in a BAU-intensive environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with business and IT stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on quality and reliability.
• Willingness to work an on-call roster.

Responsibilities

• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, user accounts and access controls across the organisation.
• Install, configure and maintain server environments; manage MS OS and virtualization; support Azure.
• Monitor system health, patching, backups, and incident resolution.
• Manage backup/DR procedures to support business continuity.
• Implement system hardening aligned to Zero Trust and security baselines.
• Troubleshoot incidents; provide escalation to Service Desk; drive root cause analysis.
• Identify opportunities to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
• Write and maintain system documentation in collaboration with IT & Security.

They are seeking a Systems Administrator on a 2-year fixed-term contract to support their IT Infrastructure.

About The Role

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the reliable operation, security and performance of Credit Union SA's IT infrastructure. Reporting to the IT Service Enablement Manager, you will work closely with the wider IT & Security team and business stakeholders to ensure systems remain stable and secure. This is an initial two-year fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, user accounts and access controls, supporting identity and authentication practices across the organisation.
• Install, configure and maintain physical and virtual server environments, manage Microsoft operating systems and administer virtualisation platforms and support Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor system health, performance and capacity, perform regular patching and maintenance, and proactively resolve issues.
• Manage backup and restore processes and maintain disaster recovery procedures to support business continuity.
• Implement system hardening aligned to Zero Trust principles, maintain secure configuration baselines, remediate vulnerabilities and support audits and penetration testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents, provide escalation support to the Service Desk, and lead root cause and problem management.
• Identify opportunities to automate tasks and improve system efficiency, security posture and cost.
• Write and maintain system documentation, and collaborate closely with the IT & Security team, vendors and business stakeholders.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Demonstrate
