Job summary

Belgravia Leisure's Gympie Aquatic Recreation Centre in Queensland seeks a passionate Swimming Teacher to deliver Learn to Swim programs and water safety education to children. The casual role requires morning, evening and Saturday availability, with a focus on engaging, safe and enjoyable lessons.

We prefer applicants with Infant & Toddlers qualifications and current First Aid, CPR, WWCC and police checks.

Qualifications

• Must hold current First Aid (Level 2) and CPR certificates.
• Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
• Current AUSTSWIM Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety certificate.
• Willing to obtain Swim Teacher Infant/Preschool Aquatics qualification or already have it.
• Experience in a comparable role is valued but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Teach Swimming and Water Safety to children.
• Deliver lessons mornings, evenings and Saturdays.
• Ensure safety and supervision of pool area during classes.
• Provide excellent customer service to swim school members, patrons and parents.

The Role

With our fast-growing Aquatic Program, we require qualified Learn to Swim with preference to having Infants & Toddlers qualifications. If you do not have these qualifications, we are willing to offer training for the suitable candidates.

As a Swimming Teacher you will teach effective Swimming and Water Safety to help grow our swim program. This will be a casual role which require you to work mornings, evenings and Saturdays and you must be empathetic to the needs of the classes.

You will have a passion for swimming and making children safer around the water. You should be energetic, dynamic, outgoing and fun, with a flair for working with children. You will need outstanding communication skills and a commitment to customer service excellence to ensure swim school members, patrons and parents are gaining maximum benefit and enjoyment from the services provided.

Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact effectively with students that have a diverse range of ages, abilities, cultures and needs.

Skills & Attributes

• Excellent verbal communication skills
• An understanding of OHS and public safety applications within your facility
• Ability to work mornings, evenings and weekends and must be empathetic to the needs of the classes
• Ability to work effectively both independent and as a strong and valuable part of the team
• Current First Aid (Level 2) & Current CPR Certificate
• Working With Children Check (or equivalent) & National Police Check
• Current AUSTSWIM Certificate – Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety
• Swim Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics Qualificationor willing to obtain
• Swim Teacher of Aquatics Access and Inclusion (Desirable)

Previous experience and success in a comparable role is not essential but highly regarded
