Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) is an accomplished airport operator which owns and operates Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports – connecting the Gold Coast and northern NSW, along with regional Queensland, to the rest of the country and beyond. Our company has a vision to engage customers, connect communities and deliver exceptional experiences – and a commitment to delivering for the communities where we operate. We have been formally recognised as a ‘Great Place to Work – Certified’ organisation four times and recently were awarded Work180 accreditation as a champion for gender equity for the second year in a row. Our company is dedicated to a target of Net Zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 market-based emissions by 2030.
There has never been a better time to join us.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sustainability Manager to join our growing sustainability team to support development of sustainability strategies, targets and plans in areas such as Scope 3 emissions reduction, electrification, renewable energy, waste reduction, nature and offsets. These strategies need to balance sustainability and commercial considerations.
In this role, you will also provide expert sustainability guidance across the business and strengthen organisational capability by embedding sustainability understanding and considerations into airport and third‑party operations.
Norbert is based at QAL’s Management Centre, just 200 metres from Bilinga Beach, he shares his experience working with the company:
‘In almost twenty years working for QAL I have found my experience to be rewarding, and the leadership team welcoming and respectful. Working as part of the environment team, QAL has always had a genuine commitment to ensuring sound environmental performance and a desire to achieve leading practice in several areas. One these areas includes sustainability, which has had a key focus over recent years.’
‘From a culture perspective, QAL encourages collaboration, innovation and open communication. Leaders are approachable and supportive and hard work is recognised and success celebrated.’
‘I’m grateful for the experience and the relationships I built working at QAL and would recommend QAL to anyone looking for a workplace that values its people and invests in their success.’
If you share our passion for all things sustainability, we would love to hear from you.
You will make a meaningful impact at QAL by partnering with leaders and stakeholders to deliver expert sustainability guidance across ESG, operational, and infrastructure initiatives. Leveraging your electrical engineering expertise (or similar), you will play a pivotal role in creating value through ESG opportunities – developing and delivering sustainability strategies and initiatives for diverse topics, including electrification and behind‑the‑meter renewable energy and storage.
This role requires a proactive, commercially minded professional who thrives in a dynamic work environment, is comfortable managing multiple priorities, and is committed to driving meaningful sustainability outcomes.
This is an opportunity to be part of a progressive organisation with a great culture and assist in the transformation and growth of the business. Flexible working options are available for all employees. At QAL, we uphold the philosophy that the smooth integration of life and work benefits all. We call it ‘Living Well’.
QAL supports an inclusive approach and values diversity within the workplace. We aim to provide opportunities that allow individuals to reach their full potential regardless of their background, gender, age, work status, religious or cultural identity. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be required to adhere to QAL’s Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP), which includes pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and have the ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
