Job summary

AECOM's Sydney-based Program, Cost Consultancy team invites applications for a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager. You will provide quantity surveying and cost management on NSW and Australian infrastructure projects, aiding design-phase cost planning and life-cycle costing.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor juniors, and deliver high-quality advisory services to clients, leveraging CostX and MS Office in a dynamic hybrid work environment across Sydney.

Qualifications

  • Senior QS with consulting experience and knowledge of Australian standards.
  • Experience in cost planning, estimating, procurement, and cost management.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a dynamic, deadline-driven team.
  • AIQS or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Proven ability to manage project costs and advise clients with MS Office and CostX.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quantity surveying and cost management on major NSW and Australian projects.
  • Develop cost planning and estimating during the design phase and forecast cash flow.
  • Collaborate with QS and multidisciplinary engineers on a range of projects.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance to the team.

Job Description

AECOM's Program, Cost Consultancy team has an opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager to join our successful team based in Sydney.

We are interested in hearing from candidates with experience across a broad range of sectors includingBuilding Services, MEP Infrastructure, Mission Critical Facilities, Data Centres, Healthcare, Energy Infrastructure and complex engineering projects, reflecting the current composition and growth trajectory of our project portfolio.

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Be responsible for providing quantity surveying and cost management services on some of NSW's and Australia's largest and most iconic vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with the development of cost planning and estimating (design phase), measurement of quantities based on design drawings, cash flow forecasting, construction phase cost management, capital cost advice and life-cycle costing.
  • Collaborate with AECOM's quantity surveyors and multi-disciplinary engineers both locally and nationally on a wide range of projects depending on your experience.
  • Use your extensive experience to provide high-quality technical advice to clients and assist in the professional development of junior members within the team by providing mentoring and technical guidance.
Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don't tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

What we are looking for from you

  • Exposure as a Senior QS, ideally in a consulting environment, with knowledge of Australian standards within the Health, Community, Commercial, Civil Infrastructure, Industrial and Major Projects sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in cost planning, estimating, procurement, construction phase cost management and client-facing advisory services
  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven team environment
  • Relevant tertiary education alongside AIQS, RICS or recognised equivalent
  • Proven and demonstrated skills in managing project costs, budgets and commercial outcomes, ideally in a client-facing role
  • Working knowledge of the full MS Suite alongside medium to high level knowledge of CostX.
