Job summary

McMullen Nolan Group in Queensland seeks an experienced Survey Draftperson to support our QLD Drafting team. You’ll turn field and design data into survey plans, DTMs and lot calculations, ensuring accuracy before client delivery.

The role offers hands-on work on greenfields subdivisions and infrastructure projects and opportunities to advance skills within a collaborative team. You’ll use AutoCAD, 12d and Civil 3D, interpret design plans, prepare set-out data and QC against designs while

Qualifications

• Previous experience in survey drafting essential.
• Ability to interpret design plans and prepare base data.
• Strong mathematical ability and problem solving.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Survey Draftperson to join our QLD Drafting team, reporting to the Team Leader, Drafting Services. This is a hands‑on support role for someone who already has a background in survey drafting and is ready to apply it across large-scale greenfields subdivision and infrastructure projects.

You’ll turn field and design data into accurate, high-quality deliverables, including survey plans, lot calculations, topographic feature survey plans and Digital Terrain Models. You’ll also interpret engineering design plans, prepare set‑out calculations and field upload packages, and compare as‑constructed data against design to pick up variances and quality issues before they reach the client.

Previous experience in survey drafting is essential. You’ll be working alongside some of the most experienced professionals in the industry, with plenty of opportunity to cross‑train, share knowledge and keep building your skills.

What's involved in the role

As a Survey Draftperson, you’ll play a key support role in our QLD Drafting team, reporting to the Team Leader – Drafting Services. You will:

• Use AutoCAD, 12d and Civil 3D to create, amend and maintain survey plans, including lot calculations and topographic feature survey plans
• Create and manage Digital Terrain Models (DTMs)
• Interpret engineering design plans and incorporate design data into project deliverables
• Prepare engineering base data for Disclosure Plans
• Complete construction set‑out calculations and prepare field upload packages
• Compare as‑constructed survey data against design documentation and identify variances
• Validate survey data and flag discrepancies, errors or quality issues

What you’ll need

• Knowledge of AutoCAD, 12d, Civil 3D or a similar CAD program
• Demonstrated knowledge of technical drawing or industrial graphics
• Good mathematical ability
• Strong attention to detail and good visual skills
• Effective analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• The ability to work well as part of a team and meet delivery timeframes
• A willingness and ability to learn to read and interpret engineering design plans and standard survey plans
