Job summary

St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, part of UnitingCare Health, seeks a Surgical Support Services Manager to lead CSSD and Theatre Orderly Services, ensuring safe and efficient perioperative support across the hospital.

You will drive strategic and operational improvements, oversee budgets and staffing, and partner with clinicians to deliver exceptional patient outcomes in a not-for-profit setting.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Health Service Management, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Sterile Services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Current National Police Check or ability to obtain.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management training or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in operational management in healthcare or similar complex setting.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and workforce planning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of CSSD and Theatre Orderly Services.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, high‑quality perioperative support and patient outcomes.
  • Oversee workforce planning, rostering and resource allocation across service areas.

Let’s make a meaningful difference, together!**Your part in our St Andrews War Memorial Hospital team**Reporting to the ADON Perioperative, the Surgical Support Services Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Surgical Support Services across St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, with accountability for the Central Sterilisation Services Department (CSSD) and Theatre Orderly Services. The role ensures the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality support services that enable the effective operation of perioperative services and contribute to exceptional patient outcomes.**What makes a difference for us?*** Relevant tertiary qualification in Health Service Management, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Sterile Services, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.* Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain and maintain).* Demonstrated leadership and management training or equivalent leadership experience.* Demonstrated experience in operational management within a healthcare, hospital or similarly complex environment.* Proven experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, including recruitment, performance management, workforce planning and employee development.* Experience developing workforce plans, managing labour budgets and overseeing rostering and resource allocation across multiple service areas.* Demonstrated experience managing equipment, assets and operational resources, including procurement, utilisation, maintenance and replacement planning.* Experience managing operational and capital budgets and achieving productivity and financial performance objectives.* Strong understanding of service delivery, operational efficiency and continuous improvement principles.* Demonstrated ability to analyse performance data and implement improvements to service quality, efficiency and resource utilisation.* Proven ability to build productive relationships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.* Highly developed communication, negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.* Demonstrated experience leading organisational change, service redesign or operational improvement initiatives.* Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services or equivalent.
