The Position

Surgical Device Partner (SDP) is a unique opportunity to act as a crucial link between our innovative surgical device portfolio and the healthcare professionals who use them. You will be a trusted technical and clinical expert dedicated to ensuring the safe and effective use of our products to deliver the best possible outcomes for patients. By providing exceptional training education and in‑theatre support you will build strong partnerships with surgeons and theatre staff solidifying our reputation as a leader in the surgical field.

  • Surgical and operating (OT) room experience is required
  • Ophthalmic operating room experience is preferred
  • Effective customer engagement across all states (National role)
What you will be working on

As a Surgical Device Partner your responsibilities include but not limited to :

  • Clinical & Technical Expertise : Acting as the primary technical and clinical expert for our surgical device portfolio providing indispensable knowledge to support our customers.
  • In‑Theatre Support : Providing hands‑on real‑time support and troubleshooting to surgeons and theatre staff during surgical procedures to ensure optimal product performance.
  • Education & Training : Developing and delivering comprehensive training and educational programs for healthcare professionals on the safe and effective use of our devices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) surgeons and other clinical stakeholders.
  • Driving Product Adoption : Supporting the sales team by demonstrating product value and clinical benefits contributing to business growth and market expansion.
  • Market Intelligence : Gathering and reporting valuable insights from the field on clinical trends customer needs and competitive activity to inform business strategy.
  • Compliance & Safety : Ensuring all activities are conducted with the highest regard for safety and in full compliance with all relevant policies and healthcare regulations.
Who you are

As a driven medical affairs professional you think from an enterprise level beyond boundaries and borders in order to bring best possible outcomes to both the local health environment and more broadly across Roche globally. You have :

  • Clinical qualification such as a Registered Nurse with operating theatre experience or a Clinical Perfusionist with a strong understanding of the surgical environment.
  • Significant experience (at least 5 years or equivalent) in a clinical and / or commercial role within the surgical / medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with surgeons and other healthcare professionals.
  • Exceptional communication and education skills with a talent for presenting complex technical and clinical information with clarity and confidence.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to work collaboratively with commercial teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • A talent for proactive problem‑solving with the ability to think on your feet and provide effective solutions in high‑pressure clinical settings.
  • Proficiency with business software including the Google Suite (e.g. g‑mail g‑sheets).

With strong business acumen you demonstrate expertise in commercialization medical and customer experience. You are excellent in stakeholder engagement including partnering with therapeutic area experts (TAEs) and organisations.

This Melbourne‑field based role being a national role requires occasional interstate travel. Valid driving licence and full eligibility to live and work in Australia is necessary as visa / relocation support is not available for this position.
