Job summary

Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) Alexandria is expanding its Theatre Team and seeking confident Surgery Nurses for a full‑time role on a four‑day roster. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring surgical procedures run smoothly and provide imaging and sterilisation support while delivering high‑quality patient care.

The role requires a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent), a minimum of 2 years' experience, and the ability to work a rotating weekend roster with strong

• Must hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years full-time experience as a qualified nurse.
• Availability to support rotating weekend roster.
• Strong knowledge of anaesthesia, terminology, and critical care.

Responsibilities

• Support surgical procedures and ensure smooth theatre operations.
• Provide out-of-theatre support including imaging and sterilisation.
• Deliver compassionate patient care and assist vets and nurses.
• Prioritise tasks efficiently in a busy hospital setting.

SASH Alexandria is a purpose‑built veterinary referral hospital close to Sydney’s CBD, providing round‑the‑clock multidisciplinary care to the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and Southern Suburbs of Sydney.

We are expanding our Theatre Team and seeking confident Surgery Nurses to join us in a full‑time capacity, across a four‑day roster.

Nurses are the heart of team, and this role will see you play a vital role in ensuring that each and every surgical procedure runs as smoothly as possible as well as providing out of theatre support including imaging and sterilisation whilst continuing expert supportive care to our patients.

Who are we looking for?

• A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
• A minimum of 2 years’ full-time experience as a qualified nurse
• Availability to support rotating weekend roster
• Sound knowledge and experience in anaesthesia, correct terminology, and critical care patients
• Understanding of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterile preparation
• Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively in a busy environment
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skill
