Job summary

A leading community service organization is seeking a Rural Family Support Worker to coordinate community networks and support families in the Rockhampton area. This part-time role requires a Certificate IV in Human Services and includes travel. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to improving the well-being of vulnerable families, showcasing strong community ties and innovative support strategies.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Human Services is mandatory.
• Registration with a recognized professional body is preferred.
• Must have a current QLD Driver’s License.
• Demonstrated experience in a therapeutic context.
• Ability to travel within Central Queensland region.

Job description

Rural Family Support Worker | Rural Support Service | Rockhampton

Employment Term: Maximum Term to June 2026, Part-Time (60.8 hours per fortnight, 4 days per week)

Location: Rockhampton and will include travel

Remuneration: $51 per hour + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

What You'll Do

• Coordinate and develop community networks.
• Provide community education.
• Conduct needs assessments and coordinate case management plans.
• General family support, information and referral.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Human Services.
• Registration with a nationally recognised professional body is preferred.
• Current QLD Driver’s License.
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• Must have the ability to travel within Central Queensland region and/or Northwest Queensland regions.
• Demonstrated experience in working within a therapeutic context with a range of issues including child abuse, family violence, relationship discord and grief and loss and the ability to keep abreast of relevant social issues and trends.
• Demonstrated ability to design, plan, facilitate and evaluate psycho-educational and therapeutic group together with a proven ability to apply contemporary group work theory and practice in order to achieve positive outcomes with clients.
• Demonstrated ability to work in ways that are innovative, inclusive and culturally appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
• Demonstrated ability with a proven track record in establishing working relationships with other key stakeholders including government organisations in community projects.
