Job summary

Churches of Christ is seeking an experienced Support Practitioner to join our Children, Youth & Families team in the Mackay area. Relocation assistance, flights, and relocation support are provided, with full-time, award-covered terms and allowances.

You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop individualised care plans, provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to support children, young people and families across Queensland.

Qualifications

• Degree in social work, psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in child protection, family support, or community services.
• Knowledge of child protection legislation and out-of-home care frameworks.

• Comprehensive Assessments: conduct thorough assessments of children, young people and families.
• Individualised Care Planning: develop and implement tailored care plans.
• Crisis Intervention: provide timely support during crises.

What You'll Need

• Qualifications: Degree in social work, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience:Demonstrated experience in child protection, family support, or community services.
• Knowledge:Understanding of child protection legislation and out-of-home care frameworks.
• Skills:Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A current driver’s licence (P2 minimum) is required for the role.
• Cultural Competence:Ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
