Job summary

St John of God Subiaco Hospital is seeking an experienced Environmental Services Supervisor to lead our Environmental Services team on a permanent part-time basis, 60 hours per fortnight. You will supervise, train and motivate caregivers, ensuring cleaning, linen and waste services meet infection prevention and quality standards.

You will oversee rosters, leave management, equipment safety, and foster collaboration with clinical and non-clinical staff while contributing to continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Prior supervisory experience in cleaning or environmental services.
• Experience preparing staff rosters and managing leave.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment and safety practices.
• Understanding of quality improvement and workplace health and safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop Environmental Services caregivers to deliver high-quality cleaning and waste management services.
• Monitor standards through audits and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
• Coordinate rosters, leave requests and day-to-day staffing requirements to ensure service delivery needs are met.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained and operating safely and effectively.
• Promote compliance with infection prevention, waste management, and safety requirements.
• Assist with performance management and caregiver development activities.
• Build relationships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to support a responsive service.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities across the department.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental Services Supervisor to join our Environmental Services team on a permanent part-time basis, working 60 hours per fortnight.

In this leadership role, you will support the Coordinator Environmental Services in maintaining high standards of cleaning, linen and waste management across the hospital. You will supervise, train and motivate Environmental Services caregivers, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with established procedures, infection prevention requirements and quality standards.

As a key member of the team, you will contribute to workforce planning, quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities while fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop Environmental Services caregivers to deliver high-quality cleaning and waste management services.
• Monitor standards through regular cleaning and linen audits and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
• Coordinate rosters, leave requests and day-to-day staffing requirements to ensure service delivery needs are met.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained and operating safely and effectively.
• Promote compliance with infection prevention, waste management, uniform and workplace safety requirements.
• Assist with performance management processes and caregiver development activities.
• Build effective working relationships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to support a responsive service.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities across the department.

To succeed in this role, you will bring previous supervisory experience within a cleaning, environmental services or similar operational environment, along with a demonstrated ability to lead and support teams to achieve high service standards.

You will have experience preparing staff rosters and managing leave requirements, sound knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment and safe handling practices, and a strong understanding of quality improvement and workplace health and safety principles.

You are an effective communicator with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting will be highly regarded.

• Salary: $71,369 to $72,635, plus 12% superannuation
• A Permanent, part-ime position, working 60 hours per fortnight.
