About The Role

This newly created leadership opportunity is responsible for leading Council's Animal Management Services team while overseeing biosecurity and key precinct ranger functions. Working closely with the Ranger & Parking Services Manager, you'll drive operational excellence, build team capability and deliver services that help keep our community safe, compliant and informed.

This is a rare opportunity to combine your technical animal management expertise with strong leadership and people development skills in a growing and high-profile service area.

In this role you will:
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Animal Management Services team.
  • Oversee animal management, biosecurity and compliance programs across the City.
  • Manage complex investigations, stakeholder matters and regulatory outcomes.
  • Support service planning, workforce development and continuous improvement initiatives.
What’s On Offer

We offer a competitive remuneration package from $126,222 to $138,997 plus 12% superannuation.

Participation in Council’s Motor Vehicle Scheme may be available for this role and will be discussed with the successful applicant.

About You

You're an experienced people leader with deep expertise in animal management and regulatory services. Your team looks to you for guidance, support and technical advice, and you thrive on developing others while navigating complex animal management, enforcement and community issues.

You are a trusted subject matter expert who can make informed decisions, provide practical advice and build a high-performing team that delivers outstanding community outcome.

You will also bring:

  • Extensive experience in animal management, regulatory services or compliance enforcement, with strong knowledge of relevant legislation, investigative processes and enforcement practices.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of building capability, accountability and engagement within operational team.
  • Strong judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to confidently manage complex, sensitive and escalated matters.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build productive relationships.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the essential requirements in the Position Description, including the below.

Qualifications/Licences:
  • Min Certificate IV in Front Line Management or in Local Government (Regulatory Services) OR
  • Cert IV / Diploma in Government Investigations OR technical qualifications with extensive skills.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
