Job summary

BHP is seeking an experienced Superintendent Engineering- Electrical & Power for the Adelaide office. Lead a team of electrical and power engineers, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation across multiple sites.

Role is Adelaide-based with a Monday–Friday roster and required travel to sites. You will provide governance over standards, support HV/LV systems, and collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Projects and Risk teams to improve reliability while driving continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Electrical or related discipline).
  • 10+ years of experience in mining, smelting or oil & gas industries.
  • Proven experience in coaching others in ‘Safety Leadership’.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple deliverables across stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to implement change through influence.
  • Effective and motivating communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to simplify complex problems and manage risk.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of electrical and power engineers, setting priorities and driving performance.
  • Deliver fit-for-purpose electrical engineering support across operations, projects and integrity programs.
  • Maintain oversight of electrical and power asset integrity, including compliance with standards and statutory requirements.
  • Provide governance over technical standards, design reviews, management of change and engineering assurance.
  • Support safe and reliable operation of HV/LV systems, protection schemes and electrical infrastructure.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Projects and Risk teams to improve reliability and reduce business risk.
  • Act as the key interface for electrical engineering matters, providing clear advice on technical risks and investment decisions.
  • Support incident investigations and ensure robust root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Drive consistency in engineering standards, work quality and governance across sites.
  • Ensure consistent fit for purpose engineering standards are applied, and conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Global Standards, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Engineering Copper SA team. We are seeking an experienced leader to head the Electrical and Power Engineering function across Copper SA. Reporting to the Manager Engineering Copper SA, you will lead a team of electrical and power engineers and SMEs, providing governance, technical leadership and risk-based decision support across the asset.

As the Engineering Superintendent, you play a critical part in ensuring the safe, reliable and compliant management of electrical and power systems, supporting asset integrity and operational continuity across multiple sites.

The role is Adelaide based, and you will be working on a Monday - Friday roster. The role requires site travel.

By tapping into your passion for operations and technical problem-solving, you will:
