Job summary

Heart of Yorkshire Education Group is seeking a proactive Subject Learning Coach for English and/or Maths to support learners aged 16-18 and adults. The role offers mentoring and a clear pathway into lecturing, with a strong emphasis on developing teaching practice.

The ideal candidate will have GCSEs in English and Maths, strong literacy and numeracy, and the ability to explain ideas clearly while supporting learning. A degree in English or Maths is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Maths A*-C/9-4 or equivalent at minimum.
• Strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Ability to explain ideas clearly and support learning.
• Degree in English or Maths or Level 5 qualification desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of GCSE and Functional Skills English and/or Maths to 16-18 and 19+ learners.
• Work with individuals and small groups to develop relevant key skills.
• Support the development of learning resources and teaching materials.
• Support progress through targeted intervention sessions to improve learner outcomes.
• Develop teaching practice through mentoring, coaching and experience.
• Take on supervisory responsibility for a class over time following training.
