Job summary

St Edmund's College Canberra is seeking a College Counsellor to join our Student Wellbeing team. This full‑time role (term time only) provides individual and group counselling, supports student wellbeing, and contributes to restorative practices across the college.

The successful candidate will hold qualifications in psychology, counselling or social work and have experience with children, families and crisis situations. WWVP is required; appointment subject to safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

  • Hold qualifications in psychology, counselling or social work.
  • Experience as a skilled counsellor working with children, young people and parents/caregivers.
  • Crisis response experience and ability to manage high‑risk presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counselling and therapeutic support to students.
  • Facilitate group wellbeing programs tailored to identified needs.
  • Support resilience and positive mental health strategies.
  • Contribute to Restorative Practices for conflict resolution and relationship building.
  • Design and deliver wellbeing initiatives across the College.
  • Participate in the College's Critical Incident Response Team.
  • Collaborate with teachers and leaders to support students of concern.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians to guide wellbeing support.
  • Refer to external agencies when required and maintain records.
