Job summary

Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Student Facilitator (Clinical Nurse Educator) to support undergraduate nursing students during clinical placements within SLHD and Sydney Education. The role partners with Clinical Nurse Educators, Nurse Unit Managers and the Sydney Education team to help students apply theory to practice in real settings.

The position entails facilitating learning, promoting professional development, and ensuring alignment with NSW Health CORE values.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and post-registration qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Commitment to professional development and reflective practice.
• Experience in clinical teaching, supervision and assessment of students or staff.
• Ability to produce high quality written educational resources and reports.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to clinical and educational needs.
• Prepared to commit to 2–6 week student placement blocks.

About the Role

Sydney Education is the education and training service for Sydney Local Health District (SLHD). Sydney Education offers over 300 courses per year and has a comprehensive range of both clinical and non-clinical courses and programs using technology to improve access to professional development and to provide high fidelity learning environments. We are a delivery site of the NSW Health RTO which means that we can offer our staff Nationally Recognised qualifications.

This position is responsible for facilitation of undergraduate nursing students during clinical placements in SLHD in collaboration with the Sydney Education team, facility Clinical Nurse Educators and Nurse Unit Managers. During facilitation, students are supported to consolidate of skills and knowledge in order to guide the application of theory to practice in a clinical setting. The incumbent will also enable students to meet the professional and clinical requirements of undergraduate nurses to gain competency skills and to comply with SLHD and NSW Health CORE values.

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and relevant post registration clinical or education qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
• Commitment to professional development of self and others including reflective practice and the ability to identify areas for growth.
• Experience in clinical teaching, supervision and assessment of students or staff and an awareness and understanding of nursing student curriculum.
• Ability to produce high quality written documents including educational resources, evaluation reports and other documents.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated adaptability both in the clinical environment and with regard to educational and organisational needs.
• You will be required to commit, in advance, to complete student placement periods of between 2 - 6 weeks at a time.
