Job summary

V/Line in Maryborough is seeking a Structures Rail Labourer for a permanent full-time day shift. The role operates on a 4 days on / 3 off roster, 7:00am–4:30pm, Tue–Fri, maintaining and renewing bridges, culverts, signals structures and other infrastructure across the Victorian Rail Network under supervision.

The ideal candidate will hold a Victorian driver’s license and Safe Working Certificate Level 1; additional plant tickets and licenses are desirable.

Qualifications

• Mandatory - Valid Victorian Driver’s license.
• Mandatory - Safe Working Certificate Level 1.
• Heavy Rigid Licence preferred; other plant tickets desirable.
• Desirable tickets: Excavator, EWP, welding/steelwork, Working at Heights, Confined Space.

Responsibilities

• Participating in replacement or renewal of bridges, culverts, signals structures, signage, platforms and other structures.
• Respond to emergencies after hours as required.
• Complete reports, timesheets, requisitions and related forms.
• Be available to work away from home across Victoria.

About The Role

As the Structures Rail Labourer, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development Asset Management group. You will be responsible for carrying out tasks associated with maintenance and renewal projects including track, civil structures, and bridges for the Victorian Rail Network under the direction of the relevant supervisor.

Key Accountabilities Include

• Participating in the replacement or renewal of bridges, culverts, signals structures, signage, platforms, and other miscellaneous structures.
• Ability to respond to emergencies after hours as required.
• Completing all necessary reports, material returns, timesheets, requisitions, claim forms etc.
• Availability to work away from home in various locations across Victoria

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Mandatory - Valid Victorian Driver’s license
• Mandatory - Safe Working Certificate Level 1
• Heavy Rigid Driver’s Licence (desirable but not essential).
• Excavator and plant tickets (desirable but not essential).
• Working at Heights, EWP and Confined Space (desirable but not essential)
• Welding or steelwork tickets would be (highly desirable)

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2023 and paid as an IMW (TRACK) 1.1 to 1.3.
