Job summary

Riddwood Consulting Engineers seeks a Senior Associate in our Brisbane office to lead multiple projects and a team of engineers. You will drive delivery quality, client satisfaction, and project profitability while shaping strategic delivery alignment.

You will mentor staff, enforce standards, and role-model the company values of competence, care, accountability and ambition as you progress toward executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required and recognised by Engineers Australia.
• RPEQ certification is highly regarded for the role.
• CPEng accreditation is preferred for leadership and senior project oversight.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for Clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment of project objectives.
• Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships to achieve a consistent pipeline of work.
• Manage fee proposals, create and allocate project tasks, manage budget estimation and tracking, own kick-off meetings and design briefs.
• Approve your team's workload plan and take ownership of delivery.
• Project manage the tasks that you or your Team Members are assigned as Task Manager, tracking timesheet hours, remaining budget, and progress against programme with early identification of overruns.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to your team, review designs early, give clear engineering guidance, and remove technical blockers quickly to avoid rework and budget exhaustion.
• Collaborate with other Team Managers on progress and issues developing across ongoing projects, flag risks, delays or resource constraints early to maintain delivery standards.
• Carry out bi-monthly and 6-monthly performance reviews with your team, providing inputs on technical ability, delivery reliability, and team behaviour.
• Enforce Riddwood's policies, uphold standards, and be a role model for your team.

You will play a key role in our business, with a focus on team management, client satisfaction, technical consistency, and project profitability. You will gain exposure to recruitment and strategic delivery alignment as you develop toward executive and business-wide leadership. Your duties will include providing technical direction and mentorship to your team, enforcement of Company policies, standards, and being a role model that embodies Riddwood's Core Values of Competence, Care, Accountability and Ambition.

About you

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, recognised by Engineers Australia
• RPEQ plus CPEng highly favoured
• 10+ years' experience in structural or civil engineering, with a strong background in temporary works, construction engineering, or infrastructure delivery from a consulting environment
• Proven track record managing projects and client relationships, with experience leading design teams and coordinating complex work programs
• Thorough knowledge of Australian Standards applicable to temporary works, structural design, and construction engineering
• Experience with SpaceGass, Strand7, Tekla TEDDS or equivalent design software
• 3+ years' local experience leading projects, liaising with Clients, managing scopes, and preparing fee proposals
• Strong commercial awareness: ability to manage budgets, track project performance, and identify and raise variations in a timely manner
• Demonstrated people management capability – mentoring engineers, conducting performance reviews, and supporting team development
• Exceptional communication skills and a proactive, client-facing approach
