About the Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Head of Strategic Projects, as part of the Multi Class Sustainment (MCS) Business Unit. The Strategy and Planning manager is accountable for two major success measures: the development and maintenance of MCS strategy, represented in the ten-year strategic plan and the development and maintenance of a hierarchy of business unit roadmaps detailing key activities and milestones. The position will align the Multi Class Sustainment business outcomes with ASC’s strategic goals, by addressing long‑term issues, operational opportunities and risk mitigation.

Please note: While this is a full‑time role, we are open to considering candidates who are seeking a four‑day work week. Flexibility can be discussed during the recruitment process.

Responsibilities
  • Create and update strategic plans and roadmaps for the MCS business unit.
  • Facilitate the alignment of departmental and program‑level execution plans.
  • Collaborate with MCS leadership to set and monitor performance metrics and targets.
  • Conduct ongoing strategic analysis to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Undertake monthly and quarterly planning activities at the business unit, department and project level.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in business engineering or related discipline, equivalent.
  • Possess Project Management qualifications and bring over 10 years of strategy/business planning experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary strategic frameworks and strategic analysis/reporting.
  • Ability to take ownership and apply principles to problem solving.
  • High attention to detail, demonstrates strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and influence.
  • Show a growth mindset, delivery focus with forward planning within shipbuilding, defence or maintenance repair organisations (MRO).

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
