Job summary

Randstad is recruiting a proven Research Contracts Officer for a prominent higher education partner in Melbourne. The role requires exceptional contractual acumen, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to foster enduring stakeholder relationships within an agile academic environment.

The officer will draft, review, redline, and negotiate a diverse portfolio of research and commercial agreements, including CRCs, Centres of Excellence, and IP licensing deals.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience drafting complex, multi-party commercial and research agreements from scratch or templates.
• Ability to propose alternative wording to unblock negotiations between policy requirements and counterparty demands.
• Strong knowledge of high-risk clauses (indemnities, liability caps, warranties, IP protections).

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, redline and negotiate a diverse portfolio of grant and commercial agreements.
• Manage clause-level terms and assess legal, financial, and operational risks.
• Prepare risk recommendations for delegates to execute agreements.
