Job summary

AFCA, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our COO portfolio. You will lead end-to-end sourcing, supplier management and contract negotiations to deliver value while balancing commercial outcomes and risk.

You'll partner with stakeholders across AFCA, develop sourcing strategies, manage RFx processes, and provide trusted procurement advice in a hybrid work environment with flexible options and inclusive leave policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, contract management or vendor management.
• Proven track record delivering end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities.
• Solid understanding of procurement principles, sourcing methodologies and contract management practices.
• Experience negotiating commercial agreements and achieving positive business outcomes.
• Ability to identify and manage commercial, operational and supplier risks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
• Excellent communication skills, including preparation of procurement documentation and executive recommendations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead medium to high-complexity sourcing activities across a range of spend categories.
• Develop sourcing strategies, manage RFx processes and conduct market engagement activities.
• Evaluate suppliers, negotiate commercial outcomes and support contract execution.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose procurement solutions.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, SLAs, variations and other procurement documentation.
• Manage supplier relationships and support resolution of commercial and contractual issues.
• Monitor supplier performance, service delivery and compliance with contractual obligations.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, supplier consolidation, process improvement and value creation.
• Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Provide practical procurement advice and guidance to stakeholders.
• Contribute to procurement governance, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate procurement and contract records in line with governance and compliance requirements.
