Job summary

Ku-ring-gai Council invites a strategic leader to head Urban Planning & Heritage, guiding planning policy and environmental initiatives across the Ku-ring-gai area on Sydney's North Shore.

You will oversee a team of planners, collaborate with Councillors and agencies, and shape town centres through LEPs, DCPs and conservation planning. A strong governance mindset and stakeholder skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Planning, Architecture, Urban Design or related field.
• Eligibility for membership of the Planning Institute of Australia.
• Experience leading urban strategic policies, teams and complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead Council's Urban Planning function with strategic direction across planning, heritage and policy.
• Oversee development of planning instruments, LEPs and DCPs, and the Development Contributions System.
• Provide high level professional advice to Councillors and government agencies.
• Drive innovative and sustainable planning outcomes balancing community expectations.
