Job summary

St Andrew's Cathedral School in Sydney seeks an exceptional Head of Junior School / Director of Primary Education to lead Kindergarten to Year 6 with a focus on academic excellence, pastoral care and inclusive education.

Reporting to the Head of School, you will shape strategy, foster student wellbeing, lead curriculum and assessment, and work closely with the Senior Executive Team to ensure a coherent K–12 journey and strong partnerships with students, families and the wider community.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualifications in Education or Leadership.
• Extensive experience as classroom teacher and educational leader in a primary school.
• Commitment to Christian ethos and Anglican education.
• Experience leading First Nations education, reconciliation and cultural inclusion.
• Ability to analyze achievement and wellbeing data to drive improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, educational, pastoral and operational leadership across the Primary School (Kindergarten to Year 6).
• Shape the educational direction and student experience across K–12 as a member of the Senior Executive Team.
• Lead curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting, with a focus on literacy and numeracy.
• Oversee student wellbeing, behaviour and inclusive education, promoting restorative practices.
• Develop teaching, operational and leadership staff; drive strategic change and high‑performing culture.
• Build strong partnerships with students, staff, parents and the wider School community.
• Contribute to school priorities including strategic plans and reconciliation initiatives.
