Job summary

City Council in Adelaide seeks an experienced Manager, Development & Regulatory Services to lead Planning, Building, Compliance and regulatory functions. You will drive governance, service excellence and act as the Assessment Manager or provide expert advice to panels and staff.

The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and a commitment to high-quality community outcomes, with eligibility for professional membership and accreditation advancement.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban & Regional Planning.
• Eligibility for Corporate Membership to the Planning Institute of Australia.
• Level 1 Accreditation or progress toward accreditation.
• Extensive knowledge of the Planning, Development & Infrastructure Act 2016.
• Knowledge of local government, environmental health and infrastructure provision.
• Experience assessing complex development applications.
• Proven leadership, mentoring and staff development.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication with elected members and community.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across planning, building, compliance and regulatory services.
• Act as Council's appointed Assessment Manager or advise assessment panels and staff.
• Oversee processing and determinations of development applications and investigations.
• Manage Council Assessment Panel and Building Fire Safety Committee oversight.
• Drive continuous improvement, governance and service excellence.
• Oversee regulatory functions including parking enforcement and by-laws.
• Lead staff development, managing budgets and reporting.
