Job summary

Macedon Ranges Shire Council is seeking a Coordinator Communications to lead the strategic and operational communications function, shaping campaigns, media and internal messaging across the organisation.

As a senior communications leader, you will advise the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors on complex, high‑profile issues, drive editorial standards, and foster a high‑performing team. Hybrid work arrangements may be available after onboarding, with initial office-based work.

Qualifications

• Strategic communications leader with ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging messages.
• Strong writing and presentation skills to advise senior leaders on sensitive issues.
• People leadership, developing others and managing competing priorities.
• Experience across digital, media, social and strategic communications.
• Experience in local government or similar complex environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead Council’s strategic and operational communications function, shaping campaigns, media and public messaging, internal communications, digital content and brand across the organisation.
• Provide trusted advice to the Executive Leadership Team, senior leaders and Councillors on complex, sensitive issues.
• Influence Council responses to emerging issues, major projects and community priorities while driving contemporary communication practices.
