Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) invites applications for Analyst, Budget Strategy and System Oversight in Melbourne on a fixed-term, full-time basis. You will analyse financial and data information to support executives and Ministers in decision making and contribute to budget bids.

You will develop costings for priority reforms, communicate performance data and system projections to inform policy advice, and prepare briefs for senior executives and government.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current policy direction, research and issues within Youth Justice.
• Sound knowledge of, or experience in, budget processes.
• The ability to effectively communicate findings of financial and performance related data.

Responsibilities

• Analyse financial and data information to support Youth Justice executives and Ministers in decision making on issues relating to Youth Justice.
• Analyse and communicate performance data, system projections and financial information to support policy and decision making, including supporting the development of budget bids.
• Support the preparation of documentation and reports for key decision-making bodies, senior executives and government, and implement agreed outcomes.
• Support the development of costings for priority youth justice reforms.
• Clearly communicate outcomes of analytical work to support the development of policy advice on emerging issues, opportunities, risks and trends impacting on the achievement of youth justice programs, initiatives and reforms.
• Maintain positive stakeholder relationships and communication channels, using informal and formal methods of communication, including the development of complex reports, briefings and presentations.
