Job summary

Daydream Island Resort & Living Reef in Queensland is seeking an experienced kitchen hand/steward for a live-on-island role. Join a fast-paced hospitality team and help maintain cleanliness, hygiene and efficiency in the kitchen and related areas on Daydream Island.

The role focuses on dishwashing, cleaning, safety, and supporting the kitchen team. Candidates should have hospitality experience, be physically fit, and work well in a team while complying with Australia’s work eligibility

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a stewarding, kitchen hand, or hospitality role is preferred.
• Basic understanding of kitchen equipment and cleaning procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit with stamina to stand and lift heavy items.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn from senior staff.
• Reliable, hardworking, and committed to high cleanliness standards.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of the kitchen and related areas.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans by hand and using commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment and appliances are cleaned and sanitised.
• Empty rubbish and recycling bins regularly to maintain cleanliness.
• Store clean equipment, utensils, and kitchen items in designated areas.
• Follow workplace health, safety, and food hygiene procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively with the team to ensure efficient workflow.
• Report maintenance issues to Kitchen Manager or Supervisor.
• Assist the kitchen team with general cleaning and stewarding duties as required.

Job Description
