Job summary

The City of Casey is seeking a dedicated Urban Planner to support growth area planning in Casey, providing quality and timely advice to Council, community and stakeholders. You will contribute to implementing the strategic planning framework to enhance Casey as a desirable place to live, invest and do business.

Qualifications

• Tertiary studies in Urban Planning, Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Curious mindset with willingness to improve technical planning skills.
• Customer service oriented with a team-first attitude and facilitative approach.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks including National Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports and correspondence, including draft Committee and Council reports and panel documentation.
• Assess and process planning applications, including investigations and compliance with statutory requirements.
• Engage with stakeholders, representing Council at meetings and forums.
• Support planning functions, contributing to policy development and staying up to date with legislation.

About the Role

You will provide quality and timely advice to Council, the community and stakeholders on growth area planning in Casey.

You will contribute to the implementation of Councils strategic planning framework and Casey’s appeal as a desirable place to live, invest and do business.

What You’ll deliver

• Prepare reports and correspondence, including draft Committee and Council reports, delegated reports, appeal submissions, and panel documentation.
• Assess and process planning applications, conducting investigations, inspections, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and Council policies.
• Engage with stakeholders, responding to enquiries, representing Council at VCAT, panels, meetings, seminars, and community or professional forums.
• Support planning functions, contributing to policy development, staying up to date with legislation, and assisting departmental staff to meet organisational objectives.

What You’ll Bring
