Job summary

Townsville Hospital and Health Service invites applications for a Specialist Surgeon (Vascular Surgery) to lead clinical services, contribute to teaching and research, and support patient care across hospital and community settings. Fellowship in Vascular Surgery and eligibility for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia are required.

The role expands in a dynamic Queensland health system, with access to advanced facilities and opportunities for professional development

Qualifications

• Qualified as a medical practitioner with qualifications in Vascular Surgery and current registration and/or eligible for registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia in that field.
• All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee.
• Pre-employment checks will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Provide optimal patient care as a Surgeon in accordance with the standard of the specialty and the ethics of the profession.
• Lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the specialty, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.
• Include research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.

• Provide optimal patient care as a Surgeon in accordance with the standard of the specialty and the ethics of the profession.
• The role of the Specialist is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients of the THHS. This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
• Lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health (QH) policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.
• The hospital has an intensive care unit, radiology department with interventional capability, PET scanner, radiation oncology and the full range of Surgical and Medical specialty groups.

Candidates who will be obtaining fellowship in the near future are encouraged to apply. Appointment will be at a lower classification level until minimum requirements for the Staff Specialist classification are obtained.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer an attractive remuneration package value up to $225,236 p.a. and generous leave entitlements.

• Salary range: $106.39 to $134.90 p.h. (L18 - L27)
• 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
• 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
• Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

• Qualified as a medical practitioner with qualifications in Vascular Surgery and current registration and / or eligible for registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia in that field.
• All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
• Probation period may apply.
• Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
