Job summary

South Western Sydney Local Health District invites applications for a Staff Specialist (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) to join Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals. This permanent 1.0 FTE role also serves as temporary Obstetrics Head of Department for the remainder of the quinquennium.

You will provide patient-centered obstetric services, governance, and contribute to teaching, quality improvement, and on-call coverage across the region.

Qualifications

• Current medical practitioner registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or equivalent specialist recognition.
• Commitment to ongoing medical education and quality improvement.
• Ability to supervise junior medical staff and participate in teaching.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rosters and LHD service objectives.
• Experience in leadership roles within obstetrics & gynecology.

Responsibilities

• Provide obstetric and gynecology leadership and governance for the birthing unit policies and procedures.
• Monitor obstetric KPIs including maternal and perinatal outcomes.
• Oversee postpartum care and home-based midwifery follow-up after early discharge.
• Develop models of care, including high/low-risk midwifery and GPSC arrangements.
• Focus on improving outcomes for vulnerable groups and participate in quality initiatives.
