A health organization in New South Wales is seeking a Staff Specialist for the Intensive Care Unit. This full-time, temporary role involves providing critical care to patients, leading emergency medical teams, and supervising safe patient handovers. The Intensive Care Staff Specialist role primarily provides care for patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and ensures the safe delivery of interventions in an acute care environment. The role encompasses leadership as the Senior Medical Officer lead of the hospital-wide Medical Emergency Team (MET), including oversight of service delivery, clinical governance and quality measures. Encompassed in the role is input on step-down ICU patients on the wards, along with post‑deterioration patients. Furthermore, the role encompasses the oversight of the hospital-wide medical handover, ensuring the safe handover of these patients from shift changes. The role requires participation in weekend and after‑hours on‑call rosters, as rostered in the ICU department. Participation in ECMO retrievals roster is subject to St. Vincent’s accrediting the staff specialist.
