Job summary

Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Agentic AI Security in Western Australia. You will lead secure identity architectures for AI agents, govern non-human identities and drive adoption of Entra ID for Agents across engineering teams.

You’ll combine hands-on coding with architecture leadership, shaping security patterns and operational practices as agents access enterprise services, while mentoring engineers and defining the future direction of agent identity security.

Qualifications

• Hands-on identity engineering with agentic AI security.
• Experience designing governance for non-human identities.
• Knowledge of Entra ID and OAuth/OpenID Connect.
• Ability to translate security concepts into engineering controls.
• Leadership in identity services projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering adoption of Entra ID for Agents and Agent 365, incl. registration, permissions, inventory, lifecycle controls.
• Establish secure patterns for identity, authentication, authorisation, secrets, tool access.
• Design controls for prompt injection, excessive agency, unsafe tool use and data leakage.
• Apply Zero Trust, least privilege, identity isolation, and short-lived credentials to architectures.
• Build and prototype secure agentic AI capabilities to improve Identity Services workflows.
• Ensure agent activity is observable, attributable, auditable and governed.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentoring engineers and retiring obsolete architecture.
• Shape the technical roadmap for agentic AI, automation and identity engineering.
