Role Overview

Gilbert + Tobin is seeking a strategic, hands-on Staff Platform Engineer to drive the next stage of our platform evolution. In this role, you’ll lead the development of standardised infrastructure patterns, embed best practice DevOps and automation, and champion modern engineering within our hybrid Azure environment.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role ideal for someone who thrives on mentoring, scaling platforms, and delivering resilient, secure-by-default systems that empower developers and IT teams to move faster with confidence.

You’ll be a key part of a collaborative, cross-functional team working at the intersection of law, technology, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead platform engineering initiatives with a focus on Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD standards, and reusable infrastructure patterns
• Design and maintain hybrid Azure infrastructure including networking, access controls, and Azure-native services
• Build and manage automation pipelines using Pulumi, PowerShell, Python, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps
• Work closely with Cyber Security to embed governance, logging, and compliance into platform architecture
• Mentor junior engineers and support systems administrators transitioning into cloud and platform roles
• Contribute to agile delivery teams and turn architectural patterns into engineering solutions

About you

• 6+ years’ experience in platform, cloud, or infrastructure engineering roles
• Strong Azure expertise in production environments (networking, IAM, monitoring, compute)
• Proficient in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, and Pulumi
• Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
• Passionate about secure, observable, and scalable infrastructure
• Comfortable mentoring others and promoting engineering best practices
• Strong communicator who can engage across technical and non-technical teams

Qualifications (Desirable)

• Terraform Associate, CKA, or other cloud/platform certifications
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and risk/compliance practices
