Job summary

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations in Canberra seeks a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Team Leader to guide a cloud engineering and reliability team. You will direct IaC, DevOps practices, release governance and operational reliability for mission‑critical services.

Reporting to the Director of Technology Architecture, you’ll shape cloud strategy, mentor engineers and lead modernization efforts across cloud platforms, automation and standards adoption.

Responsibilities

• Leading cloud engineering and operational support activities.
• Driving Infrastructure as Code, automation and DevOps maturity.
• Supporting release governance, change management and reliability engineering practices.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineers.
• Ensuring cloud platforms remain secure, compliant and resilient.
• Building strong relationships with delivery teams and stakeholders across the organisation.
• Supporting the transition toward standardised and scalable cloud operating models.
