Job summary

Tata Communications is seeking a Platform Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure cloud-native infrastructure. You will work on infrastructure hardening, storage provisioning with NetApp S3, and container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes in a fast-paced environment.

You will also manage Kafka clusters, implement observability with Grafana and Prometheus, and enable IoT integrations through Node-RED and MQTT.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar.
• Hands-on with infrastructure hardening, security, and vulnerability management.
• Experience deploying NetApp S3 storage or similar cloud storage.
• Strong Docker and Kubernetes expertise.
• Experience administering Kafka clusters.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
• Experience with Node-RED for IoT integration.
• Knowledge of MQTT for lightweight IoT messaging.
• Experience with secure coding practices and patch management.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.

As a Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and security. You will have hands-on experience in infrastructure hardening, storage solutions, containerization technologies, observability tools, and application security practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage infrastructure hardening processes to enhance the security posture of our cloud-based platforms.
• Configure NetApp S3 storage solutions to suit project requirements – Administration and provisioning data containers and ACL's.
• Manage Docker and Kubernetes clusters to orchestrate containerized applications effectively.
• Administer Kafka clusters, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting, to support high-throughput, distributed data streaming.
• Implement and maintain observability solutions using Grafana and Prometheus, enabling comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and visualization of system metrics and logs.
• Configure and manage Node-RED instances for IoT integration and workflow automation.
• Implement MQTT protocols for lightweight messaging between IoT devices and backend systems.
• Conduct application hardening activities, including secure coding practices, vulnerability assessments, and patch management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents promptly, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum availability.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices, continually improving our infrastructure and processes.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role, with a focus on cloud-native infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure hardening techniques, including network security, access control, and vulnerability management.
• Proficiency in deploying and managing NetApp S3 storage solutions or similar cloud storage platforms.
• Strong expertise in Docker and Kubernetes, including containerization, orchestration, and cluster management.
• Experience in administering Kafka clusters, with knowledge of configuration, replication, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Puma for monitoring, logging, and tracing.
• Experience configuring and managing Node-RED instances for IoT integration.
• Knowledge of MQTT protocols for lightweight messaging and IoT communication.
• Experience with application hardening practices, including secure coding, vulnerability assessments, and patch management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a production environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
