Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Australia is seeking an experienced ADF/SQL Data Engineer in Sydney to design and deliver enterprise data warehouse solutions using Microsoft Azure Data Factory, T-SQL, and ETL/ELT practices.

You will own end-to-end data integration, implement metadata-driven load frameworks, collaborate with Product Owners, and ensure data quality across environments.

This is a full-time role in a collaborative, sustainability-focused team with global reach and local impact.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience as an Azure Data Factory Data Engineer in a Data Warehouse environment.
• Three years of design and build using an agile delivery framework.
• Five years of experience in Data Engineering technologies (ETL/ELT, data pipelines, databases and APIs).
• Strong SQL for data querying, transformation and validations.
• Strong experience building metadata-driven (automation) data load frameworks in the Azure Cloud platform.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely delivery of detailed designs and fully functional Data Warehouse and Data Mart builds.
• Develop and implement best practice ETL components for data transformation, management, movement, quality and cleansing. Ensure standards.
• Collaborate with team members and perform QA to ensure work meets required standards.
• Maintain an enterprise data warehouse with daily and nightly batch cycles.
• Ensure ETL code is stored in the code repository (Git/GitHub) consistently.
• Maintain common code libraries to enable reuse across environments.
• Document build designs and data quality functions/components and conduct testing.
• Translate data models into ETL pipelines for loading into Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
• Participate in requirements, design and development reviews and in meetings with Product Owners.
• Write and maintain test cases to verify functionality.
• Develop, test, integrate and deploy ETL components using Azure DevOps and scripting.
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job Title: ADF/SQL Data Engineer

Location: Sydney, New South Whales, Australia

Must-Have Skills:

• Recent Five (5) years’ experience working as a Microsoft Azure Cloud ADF Data Engineer and using T-SQL procedures in a Data Warehouse environment
• Minimum Three (3) years’ experience in Design and Build using agile delivery framework.
• Minimum Five (5) years of experience in Data Engineering technologies (Data engineering, ETL/ELT, data Pipelines, data extraction using various file types, Databases and APIs).
• Strong SQL for data querying and transformation and validations.
• Strong experience building metadata-driven (automation) data load frameworks in MS Azure Cloud Platform.

Good-to-Have skills:

• Identify problems, develop ideas and propose solutions within daily work.
• Prepare and present ideas and recommendations to colleagues and management.
• Other duties assigned as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the timely delivery of detailed designs and fully functional Data Warehouse and Data Mart builds.
• Develop and implement best practice ETL components for data transformation, management, movement, quality, and cleansing. Ensure all developed components comply with Project Data and Analytics Data Warehouse development standards.
• Collaborate with team members and perform quality assurance to ensure work meets the required standards and is fit for purpose.
• Possess a solid understanding and experience in building and maintaining an enterprise data warehouse, including daily and nightly batch update cycles.
• Ensure ETL code is stored and maintained in the code repository (GIT/GITHUB) consistently.
• Maintain "common code" libraries to enable code and objects to be shared across all environments (Development, System Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing, and Production).
• Document build designs and data quality functions/components, and conduct testing to verify that builds are fit for purpose.
• Ability to read and interpret data models, translating them into ETL pipelines for loading into Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
• Participate in requirements, design, and development reviews.
• Engage in meetings with Product Owners to demonstrate working solutions.
• Write and maintain test cases to ensure functionality.
• Develop, test, integrate, and deploy ETL components using Azure DevOps tools and scripting languages, as required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
