Job summary

Lionel Moore Trailers is seeking a qualified Spray Painter to prepare, paint and finish semi-trailers and fabricated components to a high standard. You will work in a purpose-built facility with dedicated spray booths and a paint mixing room.

You should have a trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing or a related trade, plus 3+ years’ experience (or Certificate III with at least 2 years). Confined Space Entry certification is essential or you must be willing to obtain it, and a forklift

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing or related trade.
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant industry experience, or Certificate III with at least 2 years’ experience.
• Current Confined Space Entry certification – essential or willing to obtain.
• Current Forklift Licence – highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of safe handling of paints, coatings and chemicals.
• Experience in heavy vehicle, semi-trailer, truck, industrial, fabrication or manufacturing environments is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, paint and finish semi-trailers and components to a high standard.
• Prepare steel and fabricated components for painting.
• Grind, sand and remove surface imperfections.
• Mask areas prior to painting and mix colour matches.
• Apply primers, undercoats and finishing coats with spray equipment.
• Maintain clean, safe and organized work areas and work to production schedules.
• Follow WHS, environmental and quality requirements.

Job description

This is a hands-on role within a purpose-built facility, which includes dedicated spray booths, preparation stations and a paint mixing room. The primary focus of the role will be spray painting, surface preparation and finishing of semi-trailers and fabricated components.

About the Role

You will be responsible for preparing, painting and finishing semi-trailers and components to a high standard.

• Preparing steel and fabricated components for painting
• Grinding, sanding and removing surface imperfections
• Preparing surfaces using hand and power tools
• Removing rust, contaminants and existing coatings
• Preparing surfaces to the required standard prior to painting
• Masking areas prior to painting
• Mixing and colour matching paints and coatings
• Applying primers, undercoats and finishing coats using spray equipment
• Sanding between coats to achieve a quality finish
• Inspecting finished work and carrying out touch-ups where required
• Applying protective and corrosion-resistant coatings
• Operating and maintaining spray painting equipment
• Maintaining clean, safe and organised work areas
• Working to production schedules while maintaining high standards of workmanship
• Following all WHS, environmental and quality requirements

About You

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Spray Painter who takes pride in their workmanship and is committed to producing a high-quality finish.

You will ideally have:

• Trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing, Spray Painting or a related trade
• Minimum 3 years' relevant industry experience, or Certificate III with at least 2 years' relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience in spray painting and surface preparation
• Current Confined Space Entry certification – essential or willing to obtain
• Current Forklift Licence – highly desirable
• Strong understanding of the safe handling of paints, coatings and chemicals
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Reliable work ethic and good attendance
• Ability to work efficiently within production deadlines
• Experience in heavy vehicle, semi-trailer, truck, industrial, fabrication or manufacturing environments will be highly regarded.
