Job summary

The Fremantle Football Club is seeking a Sport Scientist to collect, integrate and interpret physiological, biomechanical and performance data to support athlete development and return-to-performance outcomes across the Football Program.

Reporting to the Head of Strength & Conditioning, you will manage GPS and wellbeing data, deliver testing, develop benchmarks, and build dashboards in collaboration with the Football Data Intelligence Manager.

Qualifications

• A degree in Sport Science, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Human Movement or a related discipline.
• At least three years' experience in elite or high-performance sport, with strong capability across GPS, athlete monitoring, force platforms and performance testing.
• Solid understanding of physiology, biomechanics, training load, fatigue, adaptation and recovery, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Coding and analytical capability, particularly R, with SQL and/or Python highly regarded.
• Current or willingness to obtain a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
• A Masters or PhD, professional team-sport experience, Strength & Conditioning qualifications and experience developing automated reporting or performance dashboards would be highly regarded.

Job description

Reporting to the Head of Strength & Conditioning, with strategic oversight from the Director of Performance, the Sport Scientist is responsible for collecting, integrating and interpreting physiological, biomechanical and performance data to support athlete development, physical preparation and return-to-performance outcomes across the Football Program.

The scope of the role will include:

• Managing athlete monitoring systems, including GPS, training and match load, wellness and readiness data
• Delivering physiological and biomechanical testing, profiling and assessment
• Developing individual and position-specific performance benchmarks
• Analysing training exposure and athlete response to support physical preparation
• Supporting return-to-performance testing, profiling and reporting

This is a full-time opportunity commencing 1 November. Weekend work during the AFL season will be required, with rostered days off provided to support work-life balance.
