Job summary

Bayside Health in Melbourne is seeking a Speech Pathologist Grade 2 or 3 for a fixed-term, part-time role at Caulfield Hospital. You will lead high-quality assessments and management within the ABI community rehabilitation service, helping patients with communication, cognition, swallowing and voice issues.

The role offers an interdisciplinary team environment, opportunities for student education, and involvement in quality improvement and research within the ABI program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Speech Pathology (or equivalent) required.
• Rehabilitation experience within inpatient or community rehabilitation programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality assessment and management for ABI community rehabilitation patients focusing on communication, cognition, swallowing and voice.
• Contribute to an interdisciplinary team approach to achieve optimal patient care and minimize clinical risk.
• Participate in the student education program.
• Contribute to quality improvement and research activities within the ABI program.

The Department

Alfred Health's Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Rehabilitation Centre provides specialist state-wide rehabilitation services for people with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries including traumatic brain injuries, stroke, hypoxic brain injuries and other causes of non-progressive brain injury. The service is comprised of an inpatient rehabilitation service, a community rehabilitation service and a 4-bed transitional living service.

The Role

• Leadership responsibilities will depend on Grade 2 or 3 appointment
• Providing high quality assessment and management of patients within the ABI community rehabilitation service, primarily in the areas of communication, cognition, swallowing and voice
• Contributing to an interdisciplinary team approach to achieve optimal patient care and outcomes and to minimise clinical risk
• Participation within the student education program.
• Contributing to quality improvement and research activities within the ABI community rehabilitation program

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Bachelor in Speech Pathology (or equivalent)
• Rehabilitation experience within inpatient rehabilitation or community rehabilitation programs
