Job summary

Medrecruit in Atherton, Queensland, is seeking a Specialist Consultant - General Practice (GP) for locum cover at a rural 65-bed hospital. The SHMO will provide GP services and support Rural Generalist training in a fast‑paced setting.

The daily rate is 2100, inclusive of superannuation and loading where applicable; ASAP start with a finish date of 3 January 2027, and current AHPRA registration is required to practice.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner.
• Specialist Medical Officer with FACRRM/FRACGP and ED experience.
• Advanced obstetrics or anaesthetics experience preferred.

Located in Queensland (QLD), this is a 65-bed rural hospital offering a wide range of services.

The hospital is at the forefront of Rural Generalists training and is the first hospital in Australia to be accredited to train Rural Generalist interns following the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine Training Pathway.

The Location

This rustic country town, with a population of 7,287, is a one-hour drive south west of Cairns. Buses offer a number of return services during the seven day week between the town and the hospital.
