Position Details

We are seeking a qualified, dynamic and enthusiastic Education Assistant to work in our Year Two classroom, providing individualised support to a student with a disability and to work with small groups of students as needed.

We are seeking a qualified, dynamic and enthusiastic Education Assistant to work in our Year Two classroom, providing individualised support to a student with a disability and to work with small groups of students as needed.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a sound understanding of working with children with disability and an ability to support their learning, wellbeing, participation and inclusion within the classroom and broader school environment.

The role will involve working closely with the classroom teacher and other members of the school team to implement appropriate strategies and provide a positive, supportive and engaging learning environment.

Applicants should be compassionate, patient, flexible and proactive, with the ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with the student while encouraging independence, confidence and participation in classroom activities.

The successful applicant will be willing to work collaboratively as part of a positive, energetic and professional team committed to the development of the whole child and to supporting the ethos and values of Catholic Education.

This is a Temporary Part-Time position, working Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–11:50am.

Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of effective strategies for supporting students on the Autism Spectrum, including an ability to respond to individual learning, behavioural and social needs.
  • Demonstrate compassion, patience, flexibility and a positive attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for working with students in the early years of primary school and supporting their learning, development and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative, organisation and effective time management skills, with the ability to work independently and respond appropriately to changing needs.
  • Bring energy, enthusiasm and a sense of fun to the role, building positive relationships with students and creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications Required
  • Possess a Certificate IV in School Based Education Support
  • Possess relevant Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School
  • Current Working With Children check
